Recruitment and Internal Succession Process Review

This project was across the entire business and focused on ensuring that the business had a consistent understanding of what good looked like for them and how to assess against it.  In order to assess this, we carried out a 2-day scoping research project which then provided them with a detailed assessment of what we advised should be their next steps. We worked closely with the HR team.

The project was then developed to assess the current management population against the newly defined competencies to understand the benchmark and we worked closely with the L&D team to develop a training scheme for managers after evaluating their ability.


  • Full culture review and re-write of company values
  • Benchmarking exercise of What Good Looks Like for Branch and Area Manager roles and re-write of job descriptions
  • Creation of new behaviourally focused competency frameworks and new assessment materials including competency interview, role play, commercial exercise, and group assessment
  • Training of the Operations and HR team on new competency matrix, assessment process and What Good Looks Like criteria
  • Creation of an assessment day process which we took 270 Branch Managers through and facilitated every session across the UK
  • Delivered personal development plans to all 270 Branch Managers and identified common needs for delivery of training
  • One of our team attended every assessment day as an external verifier to ensure consistency of marking
  • Delivered a number of leadership and recruitment skills training modules to the Branch Manager population
  • Recruited 40 new branch managers with the new framework with a 100% retention
