Sainsbury’s Launch Hot Pizza Service

Published 16th Nov 2017

In our latest Sainsbury’s news article, we take a look at their recent announcement that they’re launching their very own pizza ordering service. The new service will enable customers to order both 10 and 14-inch pizzas and choose from stone-baked thin and crispy or deep pan bases with a range of different toppings. Shoppers also have the option to specify what time they would like to collect their pizza.

Customers can pay with their cards at the counter and can also buy up to five associated items such as wedges from the hot counter, drinks and salad. Having this service allows them to skip the checkout queue and keep their takeaway hot. The service is currently being trialed in Sainsbury’s stores in Redhill and Cambridge Eddington and its Bradford store is due to start offering the service shortly. The trial will last for a total of 12 weeks and will be reviewed just after the Christmas period.

Nicola Goodall, strategy executive at Sainsbury’s, said:

“We want to help all of our customers to live well for less and as part of this we are continually looking at new ways to deliver high-quality services that offer faster and more convenient options. “By giving our customers the chance to pre-order personalised hot pizzas and pay at the counter we are saving them time and giving them a great value takeaway experience. As the UK’s first supermarket to test this service, this is an exciting trial for us to listen and understand how our customers respond.”
