Halfords Appoints New CEO

Published 14th Sep 2017

In our latest retail news, we look at Halford’s appointment of Graham Stapleton, the head of Dixons Carphone’s software business, as its new chief executive.

Mr Stapleton, who has previously held roles at both Carphone Warehouse, Kingfisher as well as M&S, will join the FTSE 250 retailer in January. Jill McDonald, who has led Halfords since 2015, will leave the company at the end of this month to head up M&S’ clothing division. In the interim, Halfords chief financial officer Jonny Mason will take charge as interim CEO.

Mr Stapleton said:

Halfords is a business with a 125 year heritage and a market leading brand that strongly resonates with me and the UK public and I am delighted to be joining the company. I really look forward to working with my new colleagues to continue to implement the service-led strategy and, over time, identify further growth potential.
